| Michael Wiley | CFO and General Counsel |
Michael Wiley has more than 10 years of experience in law and accounting, specializing in corporate law, corporate governance and securities law. He is both an attorney and a CPA. He brings a wide range of expertise to emerging growth areas, having managed clients’ intellectual property concerns, resolved employment matters and driven litigation. In the course of an active career, he has negotiated numerous venture capital private equity financing deals, merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions and debt financings.
As principal of Wiley Advising (now Cypress Peak), a provider of on-demand general counsel, accounting and other business services to corporate and individual clients, Michael has handled a variety of legal and financial matters, frequently acting as CFO and general counsel to Series A venture-backed software services, Internet, social networking, and life sciences companies. Before founding Cypress Peak, Michael was an associate at the Venture Law Group (VLG) from 2002 to 2006, continuing with the firm after its merger with Heller Ehrman VLG. He also worked as a tax accountant and advisor at KPMG Peat Marwick LLP.
Earlier in his career, Michael served as in-house counsel for Novell where he focused on intellectual property and employment issues. He also clerked for Senator Orrin Hatch on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Michael holds a B.S. in Accounting, magna cum laude, from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University and a J.D., magna cum laude, from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young. |
